Fort Wayne IT support for companies whose customers are asking hard questions

If you build, machine, ship or service anything for a bigger company, your IT is now part of the deal. Summit City Pro gets it to the standard your customers expect.

Ten years ago, a Fort Wayne job shop could win work on quality, price and delivery. Now the purchasing packet includes a cybersecurity section. Defense primes want to know whether you can protect controlled unclassified information. Medical device customers in Warsaw want to know who can touch your quality records. Automotive buyers want proof that ransomware won't stop your line and theirs with it.

Most small and mid-sized companies in Allen County can't answer those questions yet, and that's not a failing. They were built to make things, not to run security programs. Summit City Pro closes that gap. We manage your computers, servers, network and cloud accounts day to day, and we build the security and documentation that let you sign those customer forms truthfully.

Businesses we support

Defense and aerospace suppliers

Shops that touch controlled unclassified information need to meet NIST SP 800-171 and prepare for CMMC assessment. We help scope where that data lives, put the required technical controls in place, and keep the system security plan and evidence current.

Manufacturers and metal fabricators

Production networks carry CNC controllers, PLCs, scales and older Windows machines that can't be patched like office PCs. We segment them away from email and the internet, back up the programs and configurations they depend on, and keep the front office secure.

Medical device and orthopedic contract work

Suppliers to the Warsaw orthopedic companies operate under their customers' quality systems and FDA expectations. We help with controlled access to quality records, validated backups and the audit trails customers ask to see.

Health-care practices and offices

Specialist clinics, dental offices and therapy practices across Allen County run independently of Parkview and Lutheran but handle the same patient data. We cover HIPAA-minded security, email protection and the workstations that practice software lives on.

The way we run your IT

  1. Start from the customer requirement

We read the questionnaire, the contract clause or the flow-down language first, then design the IT work around what it actually asks for.

  2. Protect production without stopping it

Changes on the shop floor are planned around shifts and changeovers. Nothing gets patched or rebooted near a running line without your sign-off.

  3. Evidence as a byproduct

Patching reports, access reviews and backup tests are captured as we do the work, so audit prep is a matter of pulling files, not recreating history.

  4. Straight talk on cost

Some requirements are expensive to meet. We'll tell you what's mandatory, what's optional and what you can phase in over time.

Why Northeast Indiana's economy changes what IT support has to do

Fort Wayne quietly has one of the Midwest's notable concentrations of defense electronics. L3Harris, BAE Systems and Raytheon all have operations here, and the 122nd Fighter Wing flies out of the airport. Behind those names sits a supply chain of machine shops, cable assemblers, engineering firms and test labs, and the Pentagon's CMMC program is pushing cybersecurity requirements down to every one of them that handles defense information.

Heavy industry runs deep too. GM's Fort Wayne Assembly plant builds full-size pickups southwest of the city, Steel Dynamics is headquartered here, Franklin Electric moved its headquarters to town, and the corridors along I-69 and US-24 are lined with plants and their suppliers. Forty minutes west, Warsaw's orthopedic device cluster, home to Zimmer Biomet and other major medical device makers, pulls in contract manufacturers and finishers from all over the region.

Meanwhile the city itself has changed. Parkview Health and Lutheran Health Network employ thousands, Sweetwater grew from a small music retailer into one of the area's biggest employers, and the redevelopment of the old GE campus into Electric Works is pulling offices and startups downtown. The result is a market where a plant manager in New Haven and a startup founder near Promenade Park both need dependable IT, and both are being asked to prove their security.

Frequently asked questions

Does CMMC apply to my shop if we're a subcontractor, not a prime?

If your defense customers share controlled unclassified information with you, or flow down DFARS clauses in your purchase orders, it very likely does. The level you need depends on the type of information you handle. We'll go through your contracts and data with you to figure out what applies before you spend money.

Can you get us through a CMMC assessment?

We can help you get ready, but we don't certify anyone and won't claim to. Formal assessments are done by authorized third-party assessment organizations. Our part is the preparation: implementing the controls, writing the system security plan and gathering the evidence an assessor will review.

We have machines on the floor running Windows 7 because the controller software needs it. What can you do?

That's common in Fort Wayne plants, and replacing a working machine just to update Windows usually isn't realistic. We isolate those systems on their own network segment, restrict what they can reach, back up their programs and settings, and monitor them. That reduces the risk a great deal while the equipment keeps earning its keep.

We're in Auburn, not Fort Wayne. Do you cover us?

Yes. Our support is remote, so we work with companies throughout Northeast Indiana, including DeKalb, Noble, Whitley, Adams, Wells, Steuben and Kosciusko counties.

A Warsaw customer audited us and flagged our IT. Where do we start?

Send us the findings. Audit reports from medical device customers are usually specific, which makes them a good roadmap. We'll sort the items by effort and risk, fix the quick ones first, and give you a written plan for the rest that you can share back with the customer.

Bring us the questionnaire

Email or call with the customer requirement that's been sitting on your desk. We'll tell you plainly what it would take to answer it with a clean conscience.
